For the first time in a long time, I don’t have hard and fast goals for my next race. I’d like to do it under five hours, but I know a 4:59 is as much better than 5:01 as a 5:05 is to a 5:07.
It would serve me well to focus real soon. If not on the goals — they don’t have to be times, it could be something like “perfect T1” or to measure out my pace on the run — then I absolutely need to focus on the race. I’m not sure what time it starts, haven’t printed maps yet and still haven’t thought about what time to leave home for the site.
Training has been off a bit lately too. Last night I did get in a little more than an hour with 51 minutes on the bike and nearly 15 minutes running immediately after. Tonight, I plan to do about the same. Swimming lately has been nonexistent. No one’s fault but my own because I don’t want to get up at 5:45 to swim from 6:00-6:45.
Sunday will be my last race before IMLP. Monday morning I leave early on a trip for work and while I typically enjoy long flights because I can read uninterrupted and with few distractions, I may be a bit stiff after a HIM, 3 hour drive home, short night of sleep and subsequent flight to Seattle.
Okay, enough whining and bitching. It really is quite unbecoming.
